Lagoon

Pataua Estuary is a wonderful playground with beautiful calm waters for the youngsters to play in; a surf lane up the bay and lots of marine life to explore and harvest.

Volleyball & Table Tennis

Bring a volley ball with you and enjoy some light family competition on the camps volleyball court. Pop into the office and borrow some table tennis gear to have a go on our concrete table tennis tables.

Playground

A safe area for the kids to spend some time, our playground boosts swings, a fort and a flying fox. Please ensure that you supervise your child whilst they are playing.

Big Slide

You can gather some speed whilst coming down our big slide; and the climb back up the stairs is sure to raise the heartbeat.

Coffee

Just because you have left the city, does not mean that you have to give up your barista-made coffee. Our onsite shop has you covered.

Surf Beach

Frog town is a lovely small surf beach perfect for the kids, located just beside the campground. For the more experienced surfers it is only a short paddle accross the lagoon to the north side and some amazing waves.

Shop & Takeaways

From December 23 until Waitangi Weekend each year, the campground opens their shop, supplying fresh bread, ice-cream and a range of other essentials. Please note that the takeaways will not be open during the 2023-24 summer season.

Bridge & Boat Ramp

Pataua South and North are connected via a foot bridge. Come by at high tide to see people of all ages jumping from the bridge. Beside the bridge you will find the boat ramp where you can launch your boat at all tides.

Whangarei Heads

While in the area there are many scenic walks that you can do in the Whangarei Heads Area. Tahi Honey is just 2km by foot from the camp ground and their bush walks are open every Sunday.
